Ships That Require A Pilot
If you're planning to navigate through the waters of New Providence in The Bahamas, it's important to know that every foreign and Bahamian vessel must employ a pilot licensed by the Government of The Bahamas. This applies to vessels arriving from or departing to foreign countries, as well as those carrying foreign cargo. These laws are in place to ensure the safety of vessels and protect the waterways and shores of The Bahamas. Please note that there are exceptions to this rule, which can be provided upon request.

How to Book Your Marine Pilot
Place a Pilot Order
New Providence Pilot Association is committed to serving as a valuable resource for all our clients. To assure the best service bookings should be made by phone or email 24 hours in advance to the dispatch office during business hours. All pilot orders for departing vessels must be made at least 12 hours in advance.
Office Hours:
Monday-Friday 8:00 -16:00
Saturday and Sunday 8:00-12:00
After hours and on weekends or holidays one dispatcher is on duty for important ETA changes and short notice schedule changes only.
Emails are encouraged. In the event of an emergency schedule change a call is highly recommended but should be followed up in an e-mail.
